Functional Test Fixtures
With over 25 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of test fixtures and a dedicated UK manufacturing test facility, TestWorks Group offers an extensive range of test fixturing solutions.
We have the capability in-house to fully customise fixtures, including drilling of bed plates for bed-of-nails fixtures and full wiring. We use industry-standard fixture kits and customise these for any requirements. Your unit-under-test (UUT) can be interfaced to the fixture by the most appropriate means, whether via a bed-of-nails, edge connectors or flying leads and cables, or a combination of these.
Additional hardware can be readily integrated within the fixture e.g. power supplies, instrumentation modules, digital I/O modules, device programming pods, custom PCBs, relay cards and boundary scan controllers etc.
We can also incorporate automated actuation into the top ‘gate’ assembly, e.g. for testing pushbuttons on the UUT.
Where mains or other high voltages are required, we will incorporate interlocks and safety covers as required.
Fixtures can be actuated manually via a lever, or by vacuum, pneumatics or solenoids.
For UUTs which are in the form of modules or subassemblies rather than PCBs, we can design custom fixtures to accommodate these types of unit.
Our extensive capabilities for test fixture development and build include:
- Functional test fixtures
- Bed-of-nails customisation
- Mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic or solenoid actuation
- Cassette fixtures
- Dual stage/dual well fixtures
- Double-sided (dual-access) test fixtures
- JTAG/Boundary scan test fixtures
- Device programming fixtures
- RF-shielded test fixtures
Test Fixture Maintenance
In order to get the most out of a test fixture it is important to understand the need for on-going maintenance. Typically, most test fixtures will have moving and mechanical parts, all of which are potentially prone to wear over time. TestWorks Group offers the option of an on-going maintenance support package for all TestWorks fixtures as well as many third party test fixtures. So, regardless of whether you have one test fixture or one hundred that you need maintained, TestWorks Group can provide the on-site service required on a contractual or ad-hoc basis – allowing your business to maximise the efficiency of its test fixtures and removing the risk of significant down time.
